GIORGIO FANTI S.p.A.
The origin and the heart of the Fanti Packaging group, Giorgio Fanti S.p.A. was founded in 1948, from an inspired idea by Giorgio Fanti, who recognised a business opportunity in a can of meat. From its origins in a garage at Via del Lino, n. 8, in Bologna (Italy), through to the Borgo Panigale plant, and then the final relocation in 1969 to the current headquarters in Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna, Italy), Giorgio Fanti S.p.A. has always specialised in the production of metal containers for paint. The purchase of the first automatic line for assembling tinplate boxes in 1952 marked a milestone in the company’s journey from development to consolidation. In 2022, Fanti Packaging was officially established, the family holding that brings all the companies together under one umbrella, optimising resources and synergies. The Giorgio Fanti S.p.A. plant, which is the group’s largest and most complete, employs approximately 150 people, extends over approximately 20,000 sqm of ground space, and houses the entire production cycle.
FANTI I.C.M.
Industria Contenitori Metallici S.p.A.
Founded in 1965 in Montechiarugolo (Parma, Italy) by former employees of Capolo S.p.A., I.C.M. initially specialised in the manufacture of pots for oil, tuna, and the chemical industry. In 1990, what was then Giorgio Fanti S.p.A. acquired a majority shareholding in I.C.M., an important addition to the group which would enable it to develop and enhance its range of offerings. Today, with 47 employees on the books and a 7,000 sqm plant, the company leads the way in the production of general line tapered pots and continues to work synergistically with Fanti Packaging to guarantee innovation and quality in packaging.
FANTI VENEGONI S.r.l.
Founded in 1973 by Pietro Venegoni, the company has evolved from local business to major player in the metal packaging sector dedicated to general lines and food cans. Passionately led by the Venegoni family for over 40 years, the company operates today in a modern 3,000 sqm facility located in Trecate (Novara, Italy), with 18 specialist employees. Venegoni has been part of the Fanti family since 2018, benefiting from its commercial and process synergies.
FANTI PLAST S.r.l.
Gemmano Plant
FANTI Plast is the division that Fanti Packaging established in 2022 to distinguish the production unit dedicated to plastic and hybrid packaging, an important segment including two plants, each housing a manufacturing business. At the Gemmano site (Rimini, Italy), the production of large plastic containers continues business begun by P. Cans in this joint venture between Fanti and the Verni family (owner of an established company founded in the 1980s that has earned a name for itself in the production of high-quality plastic buckets and pails). In 2015, the Bologna-based group acquired the Verni family’s share, and so P. Cans S.r.l was born, marking the entry of Fanti Packaging into the plastic packaging market. Today, taking into consideration both production plants, Fanti Plast premises cover approximately 20,000 sqm and house over 30 employees.

Codogno Plant
The plastic and hybrid packaging, to which Fanti Packaging dedicated the FANTI Plast division in 2022, is an extremely important manufacturing segment. The business unit operates with two different facilities housing two companies that have joined the group, sharing their experience, professionalism, and vision. Polibox Italiana, founded in 1978 under the leadership of the Rosso brothers, has always been rooted in Codogno (Lodi, Italy). Initially dedicated to injection molding of plastics to produce containers for paints and varnishes, the company sealed its success with the creation of the first hybrid container in Italy, which combines plastic and metal. The result of a vital initial patent, the company’s commitment to innovation then continued with an additional European patent for Eco-Rivest, a revolutionary internal coating and protection system. Polibox originally joined the Fanti family in 2016 with P. Cans, becoming a member of the Fanti Plast division after that, operating in a modern, technologically advanced production facility. Since then, it has expanded further to include a department dedicated to the food segment.
OCM S.p.A.
OCM joined Fanti Packaging in 2024 as part of a process to upgrade the production range dedicated specifically to the food segment. A long-standing company based in Gruaro (Venice, Italy), it has achieved national leadership in the metal packaging sector under the intelligent leadership of the D’Agnolo family, whose members are still involved in the running of the business. Operating with over 200 employees in two plants (in Gruaro and San Martino di Lupari), OCM joined Fanti Packaging to ensure a greater competitive edge in the food and coffee market, leveraging is long-term partnership with well-known coffee brand illycaffè SpA.

Innovative Canmakers Europe
Founded in 2007 as a joint venture between Blechwarenfabrik Limburg GmbH (Germany) and Fanti Packaging (Italy), ICE-Innovative Canmakers Europe is a leading commercial partnership in the tinplate packaging segment for chemical and technical products. Located in Munich (Germany), ICE brings together the experience and innovation of two European packaging giants to offer pioneering metal packaging solutions throughout Europe and beyond. The strength of this company lies in its combination of decades of know-how, use of innovative technologies, and the support of a vast European wide distribution network. With a team of over 800 professionals and production plants equipped with cutting-edge machinery, including advanced printing technologies with 6-colour machines and integrated CTP systems, ICE guarantees high-quality packaging for a wide range of chemical and technical products.
FANTI ROMANIA G.I.I.
Gruppo Italiano Imballaggi
Founded in 1999 in Bucharest (Romania), G.I.I. Gruppo Italiano Imballaggi was originally established as a joint venture between Fanti and two Italian manufacturers to assemble pots and serve the local paint manufacturing market more efficiently and cost-effectively. Over the following years, market dynamics and corporate changes shaped G.I.I. which, in 2006, embarked on an expansion project led solely by the Fanti family. A new 6,000 sqm plant was purchased and developed outside Bucharest, accompanied by an expansion of the range and the introduction of new machinery, which have been fully operational since 2014.

Envases, S.A.
Founded in 1940, by Mariano Sanz Garcia, Industrias Sanz specialises in the production of metal cans, drums and pails. In June 2023, it officially joined Fanti Packaging under the new name Fanti España, bringing its product and service consulting to an even higher level of customisation in line with a glocal policy that aims to guarantee the excellence of Fanti Packaging around the world while taking different local needs into account. Measuring 4,800 sqm, the Alcobendas (Madrid) facility employs 25 people. Thanks to synergies with the group, Fanti España offers high-level metal packaging solutions, guiding customers from design to delivery of the finished product.
FANTI USA, Inc.
Following in-depth sectoral research, Fanti USA was established in West Virginia, born from the far-sighted entrepreneurial vision of Bologna-based Fanti Packaging, to serve the American market. The 10,000 sqm plant – of which 9,000 sqm are dedicated to the production of general line metal cans – exports 75 years of know-how overseas. With 11 direct employees and three outsourcers, Fanti USA focuses on quality, efficiency, and personalised customer care. An investment of over 800,000 USD for the creation of a photovoltaic system has confirmed Fanti Packaging’s commitment to sustainability.
